DAVAO CITY, March 7 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI is expecting faster and better numbers in the vaccination of 5 to 11 years old pediatric population as soon as vaccines will be delivered in the region.
DOH XI Vaccination Program Focal Dr. Janis Olavides bared in the virtual presser today that more vaccination activities are expected to take place for the said age group this week as soon as vaccine allocation will be provided to the region.
“ As of date, the vaccines we have received for this age group is only 7% out of the total target population,” Dr. Olavides said.
In the entire Davao Region, 61,501 doses of vaccines for the children aged 5 to 11 were received. Of this number, 22,000 were allocated for Davao City; 8,700 for Davao de Oro; 11,500 doses for Davao del Norte; 8,000 doses for Davao del Sur; 4,100 doses for Davao Occidental; and 7,200 doses for Davao Oriental.
Given the inadequacy of vaccines for this age group, only 21,077 children have been vaccinated in the region. Of this number, 5,286 were vaccinated in Davao City; 3,286 in Davao de Oro; 5,177 in Davao del Norte; 3,092 in Davao del Sur; 869 in Davao Occidental; and 3,367 in Davao Oriental.
The DOH XI recorded that there are 790,286 target number of children aged 5 to 11 years old that need to be vaccinated. As of date, there are still 769,209 unvaccinated children of this age group in Davao Region.
This age group is included in the priority target population for the National Vaccination Day Part 4 set on March 10 to 12, 2022.
The NVD Part 4 “March to Vaccination” targets to reach out and vaccinate 72,942 individuals in the entire region. (PIA XI/Frances Mae Macapagat)
