Davao del Sur tourism improves influx of tourists


DAVAO CITY, Mar. 31 (PIA) – The number of tourist arrivals in Davao del Sur has improved as the COVID-19 restriction measures eased down this year, with more than 350,000 day-tour visitors registered as of February this year.

 

The figures include 168 foreign nationals from different countries like the United States of America, United Kingdom and India, bared Kervin Joseph Elijay, the head of the Provincial Tourism Development and Promotions Office of Davao del Sur.

 

Elijay said that his office has also noted 97,925 tourists including 194 foreign nationals who opted to spend their nights in different tourist destinations the province.

 

He said that the aggressive promotion of the provincial, city and municipal tourism offices has helped draw influx of foreign and domestic tourists, particularly in the tourist spots in Digos City and municipalities of Sta. Cruz, Bansalan, Matanao, Sulop and Malalag.

 

Elijay mentioned that the frequently visited areas are the Mt. Apo which is the banner destination of the province; and the highland leisure destinations in Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City, Sta. Cruz and Bansalan.

 

The other favorite destinations are the natural water-falls and caves found in Matanao and Sta. Cruz.

 

On the other hand, the PTDPO of Davao del Sur has recently released a tourism video which centers on the love of the constituents of their province hometown, of which video received positive reception on social media.

 

“We’re very happy na maganda yung reception ng ating mga viewers and followers sa Facebook… But what we are really selling is our positioning that here in the province what you will experience much is really love,” Elijay stated.

 

The said video also targets the overseas Filipino workers from Davao del Sur, who will get to reminisce their memories in the province and will encourage them to go home. (PIA-XI/Franchette Delfin)

Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles.
