Vaccination for 5-11 years old slated on Feb. 14


DAVAO CITY, Feb. 8 (PIA)—The pediatric vaccine roll out for children with age 5 to 11 in Davao Region will be on February 14 to ensure preparedness in vaccines and logistics.   


Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, local vaccine czar said that the first venues of the vaccination roll out for children will be in the hospitals where parents have to bring the birth certificates of their children, ID cards to identify the children, and the ID cards of parents or guardians.  


She bared that the vaccination roll out for children will be done on February 14 at the Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical School Foundation Hospital, Southern Philippines Medical Center and the Siemens, then after two weeks, two special vaccination areas will be opened at the Hizon Elementary School, San Roque Elementary School located at the back of Victoria Plaza, Almendras gym and the USEP in Bo. Obrero.   


She said they also intend to open one vaccination site for minors in Toril and the city población.  

Villafuerte stressed that it is important for the children to be enrolled first at the SafeDQR to be integrated in the system of vaccination.  


“All of us city residents must have a DQR regardless of age,” she said.  


Villafuerte said it is now part of the regular checking that every time the child goes out of the mall, his identity is checked showing he is vaccinated. 


Dr. Zam Zailon of the Davao City Health Office said they are still waiting for the feedback from the Brokenshire, and MDMRC to also do the vaccine roll out for 5 years old up to 11 years old.   

He said during the Regional Vaccination Updating called for by the Department of Health XI, the queries from the hospitals are the time of the delivery and who will bring the vaccines to them.  (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)

More NPAs surrender in DavNor

Parents urged to register children to Safe Davao QR before vax

DAVAO CITY, February 22—(PIA) A local vaccine czar urged parents to register first their children aged five to eleven to the SAFEDAVAO QR before they can go to vaccine sites for inoculation. Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, Vaccination Cluster head of the city bared the registration to the SAFEDAVAOQR is crucial so that their children will be integrated in the local vaccination system. She said that the vaccination for children now is on its second phase, with three vaccination sites namely San Roque Elementary School in Barrio Obrero, Vicente Hizon Elementary School at Barangay Sasa and the Almendras gym. “Children can be vaccinated on these sites, whether they are walk-ins provided they have registered at the SAFEDAVAOQR,” Villafuerte said.
