Jose Abad Santos town offers help to loveless LGU employees on Valentines Day

JOSE ABAD SANTOS, Davao Occidental, Feb. 9 (PIA)- Loveless and Single this Valentines and wanting to find and go on a date?

The Mayor of the Municipality of Jose Abad Santos, in the province of Davao Occidental is looking to help its local government employees go and find a date on February 14 by offering a “Leave with Date Allowance on Valentines Day”

“I heard of an LGU that will allow employees to go on leave to look for a date for Valentine’s. I thought it was a good idea. But I realized the leave is useless if you do not have the means for a date,” Mayor Jason John Joyce said of the assistance to  the singles in the LGU (local government unit).

Usually the employee’s salary has been used for loans or just enough for their needs. I thought of giving an allowance to make their Valentine’s Day happier,” the Mayor said.

Local Government Jose Abad Santos employees who are single and romantically unattached can apply for a leave on February 14 for a date plus they will receive a P2,000 date allowance which they can spend on that special day.

Requirements for those who want to apply include:

1. Proof of having a date (thru chat or text)

2. The dating partner must not be his/her current boyfriend/girlfriend.

3. The employee must be SINGLE with no current boyfriend/girlfriend and obviously not married.

4. Photo of the actual date must be submitted upon return to work on Feb 15. No photo submitted, the date allowance must be refunded.

Mayor Joyce said he will be the one to personally screen the application of the single employees who want to avail of the date leave and date allowance.

“They have to send me screenshots of their convo (online or text conversation) that they will go on a date. The budget for this will come from my personal pocket. This is a small thing to share happiness for the singles,” Mayor Joyce said.

“There are some who have messaged that they have found a date and intend to apply but I have yet to receive their proof. Funny thing is there are many residents from different parts of the country who wanted to apply,” the Mayor said.  (PIA/RG Alama)

Though we are young, though we are still around two-years old from the time we were launched, I say we are fortunate because we did not start from zero. We were a campus of SPAMAST such that there wer...
