DAVAO DEL NORTE, Feb. 22 (PIA) -- A total of 14 persons who used drugs (PWUDs) graduated from the Katawhan Kontra Droga sa Komunidad (KKDK) Program of the Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte, a community-based rehabilitation process for people convicted of pushing or using illegal drugs.

In an interview by One DavNor Network, some of them expressed their experiences and stories of the program helped them to become better.
“Ang akong experience sa sulod nakahatag nakog leksyon kanang malayo sa pamilya; malayo sa akong mga anak. Lisod kaayo kay makita nako pagbisita nila, namayat sila, apektado jud kaayo sila, nagsigeg hilak kay wala sila maanad nga wala ko sa ilang tapad, sa ilang kiliran," (My experience there taught me a lesson of being away from my family. I can see that they are affected because of the visible changes I can see in them and they always cry because I am not with them which made my situation too difficult), a drug reformist from New Corella said.
"Dili sayon ang makulong. Dili sayon ang mag-celebrate og pasko, New Year, birthdays sulod sa presohan sulod sa tulo ka tuig. Mga panahon nga mo-graduate imong anak, pero dili nimo makita, picture na lang," (Prison is not easy. Celebrating the Christmas, new year, and birthdays in prison is not easy for three years. The graduation of your children which I wish to attend but mere pictures are the things you could only see), a graduate named Romnick Salazar explained.
The drug reformists also expressed their gratitude for the government in not giving up on them.
“In behalf sa among mga kaubanan gusto lang namo ipaabot ang among pagpasalamat ug paghatag pagtagad kanamong biktima sa ginadili nga droga, sa paggahin og oras namong mga biktima," (On behalf of my co-drug reformists, we would like to extend our thanks for helping us, drug victims and for taking time for us), Salazar added.
