DAVAO CITY, Dec. 29 (PIA) – The members of the Social Security System (SSS) are alerted to secure all their information as the government owned and controlled corporation has embarked on online registration and transactions.
SSS Digos City Branch Manager Jocelyn Tejano-Gopo has made the warning especially to the members under her areas of jurisdiction such as the provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.
Gopo said that is to protect the members from fraudsters, scammers or internet hackers who may use their data or information for illegal transactions.
“Gusto nako i-warn ang members nga dili pataka og hatag sa inyong data, user ID ug password, bisan ang inyong SSS number bisan kinsa kay kabalo namo daghan kaayog mga kaso karon nga kanang na kompromiso ang ilahang mga data (I just want to warn the members not to provide their data, user ID and password, or even their SSS number to anyone because there are many cases now where the members’ data have been compromised),” she stated.
Gopo cited that there had been complaints from members because somebody else filed loans under their accounts.
“Nahinumduman nila nga ang ilang data ilang gihatag sa laing tao. Katong tao diay mao to ning file sa ilaha og loans (They remembered giving their data to others who filed loans for them).”
There were also instances wherein members were declared dead on their records, she bared.
“Your data are personal. Once you’re registered, we’re discouraging you to give your personal data,” Gopo said as she further advised the members to protect their information and personal details when using the internet.
She said that almost all transactions of SSS are done online to avoid members from going to the SSS offices. “This is to provide efficient services to our members.”
She added that there are currently over 40 million SSS members worldwide. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
