DAVAO CITY, Dec 21 (PIA) - The Office of Civil Defense XI (OCD XI) reported that it is now closely monitoring and preparing for the issuance of a Regional Disaster Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) memorandum on preparedness measures for another weather disturbance expected this weekend.
OCD XI Chief of Operations Atty. Mark Cirunay, in his guesting over One Davao Virtual Presser, flagged the public to remain resilient, prepared, and to always heed to the call of the local government unit in dealing with potential hazards.
Cirunay was referring to the low pressure area that is seen to enter the vicinity of Mindanao and may affect communities in Davao Region.
In a latest update from DOST PAGASA, the low pressure area (LPA) over the Pacific is expected to enter the PAR on the 26th or 27th of December. It will be closest to the landmass of Mindanao on the evening of 29th or morning of 30th of December.
The LPA has 60-70% chance to develop into a tropical depression. The public is advised to continue monitoring for possible changes on the forecast scenario, undertake precautionary measures, and remain vigilant against unofficial information from unverified sources. (PIA-XI/FGM)
