DAVAO CITY- The Province of Davao Oriental has been put under Blue Alert Status with the arrival of Typhoon Odette in the country.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council placed the Blue Alert Status following the PRDMM meeting held earlier today (Dec. 16) and the Dec. 15 Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment meeting.
The Operation Center has been activated and is now serving as an Emergency Operations Center.
Local Government Units and national government agencies has been directed to preposition manpower and equipment. Disaster Response Teams are now on standby for possible resource support and augmentation.
The general public particularly living in danger zones near rivers and coastal areas are advised to take precautions and be vigilant.
As of 11:00 am today (Dec. 16), No untoward incidents caused by Tropical Storm Odette have been monitored in the province.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No.1 has been placed in the towns of Baganga, Cateel and Boston. Areas under TCWS No.1 will experience strong winds and heavy rains. Residents living in danger zones such as landslide-prone areas and those along the coasts has been urged to take necessary precautions.
Classes has been suspended in all levels private and public schools in the towns of Boston and Cateel. (PIA/RG Alama)
