DAVAO DEL NORTE, Dec. 15 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte retained its place as the 2nd Overall Most Competitive Province in the entire country on the recently concluded awarding ceremony during the 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit yesterday, December 14, 2021, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
There are 81 provinces in the country which are included in the roll of candidates for competitiveness ranking set by the DTI. The Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte got the same rank in 2020 this year placing in the second rank after the Province of Rizal in Region IV-A as the 1st placer and followed by the Province of Camiguin in Region 10.
The said award was among the citations received by the Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte under Governor Edwin I. Jubahib's administration following its Most Business-Friendly (MBF) Province Award in 2019, and the Best in Government Covid-19 Pandemic Response Award awarded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the Digital Governance Awards 2021.
Other local government units in Davao Del Norte also received awards during the said event.
The City Government of Tagum received the 3rd rank as the Overall Most Competitive Component City. It also got the 1st rank in Government Efficiency, 2nd rank in Resiliency, and 4th rank in Infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of San Isidro was awarded as the 1st place as the Most Improved 5-6 Class Municipality and the City Government of Panabo as the 8th place in Resiliency Pillar under the Component Cities Category.
The ‘Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index’ is an annual rating of cities and municipalities by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC), through Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs), which is based on the sum of their Economic Dynamism scores, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency. DAVAO CITY, April 22- Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products. The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities.
