Davao City lights up for Christmas



DAVAO CITY- Several strategic locations in Davao City were lit up with Christmas lights as part of the annual Davao Pasko Fiesta.


Davao City Vice-Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte led the Christmas Lighting Ceremony on the early evening of Friday (Dec. 3) at the second floor hallway of the City Hall.


The ceremonial switching lighted up the City Hall, the adjacent Quezon Park, Rizal Park, Centennial Park, the Sangguniang Panglungsod Building, the Davao City Water District Pipe bridge along Governor Generoso Bridge in Bankerohan and the Unity Arch and pocket park in Davao City’s Chinatown District.


“As we celebrate the Christmas Season, we remind everyone to be mindful of our celebrations and gatherings at home during the holidays. Please do not forget to follow the minimum health protocols and ensure the safety of our families and loved ones during this special occasion. Let us continue to work together in making the coming New Year a better and a healthier one.” Vice-Mayor Duterte said in his message at the ceremonial lighting.

An afternoon prior to the lighting, Misa Pasasalamat (Thanksgiving Mass) was held at the San Pedro Cathedral which was attended by top City Government officials led by Mayor Sara Z. Duterte.


The ceremonial lighting and Misa Pasasalamat are part of Davao Pasko Fiesta, an annual event of the City Government in partnership with the private sector as a means of celebrating the Filipino tradition during the Holiday Season. 


This year’s Pasko Fiesta is held digitally and is dubbed as “Davao Paskonline Fiesta“ it is marked with several virtual programs and activities alongside online contests which are centered around the family. (PIA/RG Alama)

More NPAs surrender in DavNor

Parents urged to register children to Safe Davao QR before vax

DAVAO CITY, February 22—(PIA) A local vaccine czar urged parents to register first their children aged five to eleven to the SAFEDAVAO QR before they can go to vaccine sites for inoculation. Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, Vaccination Cluster head of the city bared the registration to the SAFEDAVAOQR is crucial so that their children will be integrated in the local vaccination system. She said that the vaccination for children now is on its second phase, with three vaccination sites namely San Roque Elementary School in Barrio Obrero, Vicente Hizon Elementary School at Barangay Sasa and the Almendras gym. “Children can be vaccinated on these sites, whether they are walk-ins provided they have registered at the SAFEDAVAOQR,” Villafuerte said.
