The jurors for this year’s MFF include Zamboanga filmmaker Zurich Chan, award-winning actress Fe Hyde and television and film director Wilfredo Manalang.
Tadena said that the pandemic has forced them to go all virtual. The festival screenings, filmmakers’ open forum, and the Film Awards will be streamed on the Mindanao Film Festival You Tube channel and Facebook page.
“Screenings are for free, this is an opportunity for the viewers to watch regional cinema thru their devices anytime, anywhere,” Tadena said.
The pre pandemic Mindanao Film Festival was usually held at the Gaisano Mall Cinema in Davao City. Established in 2003, the MFF is the longest running regional independent film festival in the country.
This year’s Mindanao Film Festival is also an accredited event of the Davao Pasko Fiesta- The annual Christmas festival of the Davao City local government and which like the MFF will also be held online.
The 19th Mindanao Film Festival is organized by the Mindanao Film and Television Development Foundation Inc.
