DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 12 (PIA)— Municipal Mayor Ernesto T. Evangelista Jr. considers as “persona non-grata” if people fail to give value to, testify for and recognize the “real changes” that President Rodrigo R. Duterte has brought about in his 6-year administration.
Addressing the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan towards National Recovery, Evangelista admitted having wondered why some politicians seemingly become oblivious of the changes that President Duterte has introduced during his administration.
“Ug imong tan-awon ang ubang politiko, murag walay nabuhat ang atong President. Murag, mahimo ta nga persona ingrata kon dili nato masaksihan ug mahatagan ug bili ang pang-gobyerno sa atong halangdong Presidente. (If we look at other politicians, it seems the President has done nothing. It would seem we become ‘persona ingrata’ if we would fail to testify and give value the governance of our honored President),” he said.
With considerable length in politics and government service, Evangelista recalled performance of past Presidential administrations and concluded that divine providence has brought President Duterte into place “to bring about real change.”
Some significant accomplishments of the President that Evangelista cited were addressing drug menace that had crept into the ranks of police authorities and top politicians. He also lauded the President for mustering the political will to seriously go after drug syndicates, even to the point of smashing Marawi identified as the point-of-origin of drug trade.
“Imposible ug ato pa jud i-disregard ang Duterte legacy, wa kitay ayo jud. (It would be impossible if we still would disregard the Duterte Legacy),” he said.
“So ana ang mga tinuod nga mga testimony. Talking of Duterte legacy, usbon nako, maigo na sa persona ingrata ug wala nato mapansin ang ensakto nga kabag-uhan. (That is the true testimony. Talking about the Duterte Legacy, I say it again, we would hit us as persona non-grata if we would fail to recognize the real change.),” he added.
Evangelista confessed to have been praying for the Filipino people to make the choice for the next President to continue the Duterte Legacy.
