Strings of visible infra project made under PRRD—PIA chief

Then DPWH Sec. Mark Villar inspects Davao City Coastal Road, one of PRRD's legacy project

DAVAO, Nov. 3 (PIA)--- Philippine Information Agency Director General Ramon Cualoping is inviting everyone to take time in visiting places to see the changes in landscape of the Philippines due to numerous infrastructure projects done by the Duterte Administration.

In his latest online post, he brought to public attention the massive highways, numerous bypass roads, bridges and ports, airports and even the irrigation system bringing free water  services to  farmers.

Citing  the facts and figures from the Former Build Build Build Committee Chairperson Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo, Cualoping revealed  a  total of 671 infrastructure projects completed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) less than a year before the President steps down from his position.

On top of these, more than 200 projects are expected to be completed before and beyond the President’s term aside from  the 214 airport projects, 451 commercial and social seaport projects, and six railway projects that have already been completed.

Near the sight of those residing in Metro Manila is the visibly rehabilitated Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3).

Its rehab began in May 2019 when Sumitomo Corporation, its technical partner, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), and MHI’s fully-owned Philippine subsidiary, TES Philippines (TESP) formally took over for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the MRT-3, Cualoping explained.

Another mega project in Metro Manila area is BGC-Ortigas Center Link Project, Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Project, NLEX-Harbor Link, C5 Southlink, Kalayaan Bridge, Radial Road 10, EDSA Busway, and the Metro Bike Lane Network.

Another cited project is the Skyway Stage 3 which is an elevated expressway from Buendia, Makati City to the North Luzon Expressway in Balintawak, Quezon City with a length of about 18.83 kilometers that has eased traffic.

Expansive highways like the Central Luzon Link Expressway and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway were also built.

Among the completed airport projects is the Clark International Airport. Its recently completed passenger terminal building has increased the airport’s passenger capacity from the previous 4.2 million to 12.2 million per year, Cualoping revealed.

Related to airport projects is the Philippines’ Ninoy Aquino International Airport  which was awarded as the 10th Most Improved Airport Worldwide according to Skytrax’s 2018 World Airport Awards.

Cualoping explained the Skytrax as an international air transport rating organization.

Basing on  Build Build Build facts and figures, Cualoping said that  29,264 kms of roads; 451 seaport projects; and 5,950 bridges have been completed from July 2016 to June 2021 under the helm of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

These upticks in infrastructure investment under BuildBuildBuild program of the national government generated 6.5 million jobs nationwide from 2016 to 2020.

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture also has starred in creating significant accomplishments under the Duterte Administration.

DA  Secretary William Dar said in a statement published in their website said the country’s rice farmers harvested a total of 4.626 million metric tons (MMT) for the first quarter of 2021; 8.6 percent more than in 2020 Q1.

Cualoping also mentioned  the 229,289 hectares of land  that were distributed from 2016 to 2021 and 937,040 farmers benefited from the Free Irrigation Act as of May 2021. “The first in our history,” Cualoping said.

On  the other hand, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict  also created a  niche in delivery of  services anchored on the whole of nation approach (WONA) thru which the Barangay Development Program is rolled out.

“Maraming mga Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) na ang may mga kalsada, pa ilaw at patubig. May mga paaralan na rin. May internet pa!,” Cualoping said in making emphasis on the benefits of E.O. 70  (PIA XI/ JEANEVIVE D. ABANGAN)

Though we are young, though we are still around two-years old from the time we were launched, I say we are fortunate because we did not start from zero. We were a campus of SPAMAST such that there wer...
