SSS launches pandemic relief programs for members, employers

DAVAO CITY, Nov. 12 (PIA) -- The Social Security System has launched four pandemic and relief restructuring programs (PRRP) to help its pandemic affected members and also the employers.

According to Ms. Greta Fe Quayle, SSS Davao Regional Communications Officer, there are five programs, one of which was provided in September  where the deadline for payment of the July contribution  was moved to October 30 (November 2 because of holiday) from the original deadline of August 30.

During her guesting at the One Davao Online Presser, Quayle discussed in detail the Short Term Member Loan Penalty Condonation Program (PRRP5), where members will pay the original loan amount and the accrued interest, no longer the penalty.

The condonation has two modes of settling payments either a one-time payment and an installment where the member will pay 50% of the original loan amount plus interest then the remaining 50% to be divided equally in six months installment payments.

Medyo nakasabot ang SSS na daghan wala nakabayad sa ilang salary loans, calamity loans and other short-term loans, mao ning tubag sa SSS para sa atong mga members na delinquent na jud sa pagbayad sa ilang short term loans (The SSS understands that many members have not paid their salary loans, calamity loans and other short-term loans, This is the answer of the SSS for the members who are delinquent in paying their short term loans),” Quayle said.

The other three pandemic and relief restructuring programs include: Contribution Condonation Penalty Program (PRRP 2) for employers where they can pay overdue SSS contribution in full or by installments for a period of four months to 24 months depending on the total amount of delinquencies, without paying penalties.

Enhanced Installment Payment Program (PRRP3) allows crisis affected employers to pay past due social security and employment compensation contributions in installments for a period of nine months to 60 months depending on the total amount of delinquency.

Housing Loan Restructuring and Penalty Condonation Program (PRRP 4) is for delinquent SSS housing loan borrowers to pay principal interests, insurance dues and legal expenses either through a one-time payment within 90 days from receipt of notice or by installments where they pay 50% within 90 days from receipt of notice and the remaining 50% in 12 equal monthly installments.

Though we are young, though we are still around two-years old from the time we were launched, I say we are fortunate because we did not start from zero.
