Public urged to look into red flags of domestic abuse



DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 18 (PIA) -- The Regional Coordinator of the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) XI, Mr. Renee Boy Binondo, under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI, and Mrs. Lanny Guinit, from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Davao Del Norte, discussed the warning signs and symptoms of children who experienced abuses.

During the latest episode of Kapihan sa DavNor, Binondo and Guinit highlighted the updates on the programs and projects of their respective offices where domestic violence was discussed in celebration of the National Children's Month 2021 with the theme, "New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata, Ating Tutukan."

"Based sa mga reports, data na gihatag sa atoa sa Philippine National Police (PNP) panahon sa atong regular meeting nga ginaapilan sa tanang mga stakeholders, base didto ug nakita nila didto nga pareho lang ang kaso sa wala pay pandemic ug karon nga naa na ang mga kaso sa pagpang-abuso sa mga bata. Apan aduna silay nakita nga pag-increase sa number sa sexual abuse especially sa incest (Based on the reports and data presented to us by the Philippine National Police (PNP) during our regular meeting attended by all stakeholders, the case was the same before the pandemic. However, they have noticed a rise in the number of cases of sexual abuse, particularly incest),” Guinit explained.

She also gave one sign noticeable in children experiencing domestic violence.

"Signs, isa diha kung ang bata dati bibo apan karon medyo hilomon or baliktad, dati hilumon, karon either bayolentihon or pala-away (Common sign is that when a child was used to be lively but now he's quite or opposite of that, before he is quite and now he is violent or a bully),” she said.

Binondo agreed to Guinit's statement emphasizing the change in the routines and usual activities of the children.

"Mga red flags lang man gyud no anything nga atong mabantayan the usual niya nga ginahimo, there is changes. Ang family members raman gyud ang makabantay ana, murag kuan lagi si kuya, kuan lage si ate  (Talking about red flags, any change you can observe to the child's routine or usual activities can be one of it. Family members could only identify this),” he uttered.

Davao del Sur State College first president formally proclaimed

DIGOS CITY, Mar. 31 (PIA) – Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag has formally proclaimed Dr. Augie E. LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles.
