DavSur’s state college rolls out vaccination for students


DAVAO CITY, Nov. 4 (PIA) – The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) in Digos City has organized a three-day vaccination rollout which benefitted 468 students including staff and teachers who received their first jab of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

 

The vaccination drive held at the DSSC gymnasium on November 2-4, 2021 was part of the “Sama-Samang Vaccination Program for Tertiary Students in Davao Region,” an initiative of the Commission on Higher Education Region XI (CHED-XI) in partnership with the Department of Health Region XI (DOH-XI).

 

DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes explained that the vaccination rollout was aimed at having students fully vaccinated and getting them ready for the limited face-to-face classes by January 2022.

 

“I would like to thank the teams coming from the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, our Red Cross team, our provincial DOH Team and our local BHW’s from Barangay Matti,” Fuentes expressed gratitude to the vaccination teams.

 

Dr. Maricar Casquejo, regional director of CHED-XI, said that the vaccination program of the agency was in collaboration with DOH-XI to encourage more students to get vaccinated in preparation for the face-to-face classes.

 

“We are blessed diri sa DSSC tungod kay gihatod na gyud sa panggamhanan ang vaccine ug diri mismo sa atong campus (here at DSSC because the vaccines were delivered by the government here in our campus),” stated Wally Carcedo, president of the DSSC Student Supreme Government (SSG).

 

After getting his first jab during the rollout, Carcedo urged other students to also be vaccinated, saying “this is our time and opportunity nga gihatag na sa atong gobyerno. Kaning vaccine, mao ni siya ang isa ka way para mo resume na ang klase (that the government has provided. This vaccine is one way for classes to resume.”

 

Davao del Sur Governor Marc Cagas, who also graced the vaccination activity on the first day, encouraged the students to also have the members of their family get inoculated and be protected. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Mati City releases new tricycle fare guidelines

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Apr. 6 (PIA) -- The City Government of Mati has issued a new set of tricycle fare guidelines due to the increase in gasoline prices over the past weeks.   Under the City Ordinance No. 527 Series of 2022 or the "Ordinance Imposing the Regulation of Fare and Motorized  Tricycle-for-Hire in the City of Mati," the minimum fares are peg on the prevailing fuel prices. If the gasoline prices would hover at P40.00 to P49.99 per liter the minimum fare would be pegged at P9.00. If fuel prices are at P50.00 to P69.99/liter, minimum fare would be at P12.00 The current minimum fare is now P14.00 as the price of gasoline is between P70.00 to P89.99 per liter.   If the gasoline increase would go from P90.00 to P99.00/liter, the minimum fare will be P15.00. The price of gasoline is not the only indicator of the passenger's fare.
