DavNor rolls out more activities for Children's Month amidst pandemic



DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 11 (PIA) -- The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Davao Del Norte with its cities and municipalities started its month-long celebration of the 2021 National Children's Month with the theme, "New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata ating Tutukan."

 

PSWDO Assistant Department Head, Mr. Jeffrey R. Calamongay presented the roll of activities for the whole month during the recent episode Pakigsayod: Serbisyo Alang sa Katawhang Pilipino.

Calamongay and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) representatives from its Gender and Development Section, Ms. Jessica Jean Amigo and Ms. Leigh Hucalla, enumerated their series of activities for the whole month of November in celebration to the National Children's Month.

PSWDO opened their celebration through a radio program attended by the Council for the Welfare of Children Coordinator from DSWD XI, Rene Boy Binondo on November 2, 2021. Another radio guesting was held on November 4 titled "Tamang Pagpaplano ng Pamilya para sa mga Bata" with guests from the Provincial Health Office.

On November 9, another radio program was scheduled to discuss the topic "Kahalagahan ng Nutrisyon para sa mga Bata sa Panahon ng Pandemya" with the guest speaker Mae Flor Espiritu, the Provincial Nutrition Coordinator.

 

The following schedules will also be observed throughout the month; (Nov. 11) "Positive Parenting In The Times Of Pandemic" with Pastor Andrew Macad From Panabo Fundamental Baptist Church; (Nov. 16) "Protection Of Children On The Context Of COVID-19 Pandemic" with PNP Provincial Office, PMAJ Leah Cassandra Manabat and PMAJ Anjanette Tirador of PNP Tagum City; (Nov. 18) "The Fight Against Child Labor In DavNor" with DOLE representative, Mr. Dave Andrei Villegas and a representative from the Child Fund International; (Nov. 23) "Online Safety Of Children" with Carla Canarias of DSWD XI; and (Nov. 25) Culmination And Awarding Ceremony highlighting the Local State Of The Children Address Report by Governor Edwin I. Jubahib.

There are also different contests for the children including vocal solo singing, vocal duet singing, poster making contest, art contest, TikTok contest, poem writing, photo contest, spoken word poetry, and jingle-making

In Tagum City, the following events will be observed: (Nov. 5) opening activity; (Nov. 12) "Katungod Sa Matag Bata Responsobiliad Sa Matag Pamilya" (Virtual) and Usapang Pambata (online talk show) discussing the rights of a child and online sexual exploitation on children with a representative from the Save The Children Philippines; (Nov. 16) "Giving Of Health Care Kits And Tabang Eskwela Kits;" (Nov. 19) Pasundayag Ng Mga Talento (Tiktok, Draw And Tell, and Vlog Competition); and (Nov. 22) State Of The Children's Address by Mayor Allan L. Rellon.  They also launched the "Birth Mo, Treat Ko" program where children without birth certificates yet will be assisted on the processing for free.

The guests also highlighted how the pandemic has changed their course of services delivery.

"Nag agree atong mga stakeholders ug agency partners nga thru recording ang mga entries nga isubmit nila. Naa silay timeline para atong ipakita sa atong mga invited nga mga judges. During culmination, mag invite lang tag mga key persons ug mga implementors sa children's program from LGU unya ipresent nalang sa ilaha ang recording (Our stakeholders and agency partners agreed that all of the participants' entry will just be recorded. A timeline of submission will be observed to show the judges their entries on time. During the culminating activity, we will just invite key persons to witness the recordings)," Calamongay explained.

"Virtual gyud ni sya, maong naa gyud mi timeline nga mao lang ni adlawa para ipasa ninyo ang mga entries ug mag gahin mig lahi na adlaw para sa judging (The event will be held virtually and we wil lset timeline for the submission and judging)," Amigo said. (PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda/Ezri M. DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Nickel mining site in Mati outside of protected areas

MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL- The nickel mining site of the Austral-Asia link Mining Corporation and Hallmark Mining Corporation is located outside of the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary and the Pujada Bay Seascape and Landscape. In a statement, the local government unit of Mati City said that the mining area is “four kilometers away from the boundary of the Pujada Bay Seascape which is a protected area and is also outside the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary which is a Unesco-heritage site.” The mining site located in Barangay Macambol in Mati City comprises a total area measuring 17,215.49 hectares. The Mati City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CiENRO) clarified that the mining operation has been issued a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in 2004 and has been in operation since then.
