Davao Pasko Fiesta launches jingle

Davao Pasko Fiesta Festival Director Gatchi Gatchalian, the composer of the Pasko Fiesta jingle

DAVAO CITY, Nov. 5 (PIA)- This year’s Davao Pasko Fiesta recently launched its Christmas jingle aimed at promoting the online edition of the annual Christmas festival thru the message instilled by the song’s lyrics.

“The song is about encouraging Dabawenyo families to celebrate Christmas this year together at home and even at home we can do a lot of things together as a family,” says Renato “Gatchi” Gatchalian the festival director of the Davao Pasko Fiesta and also the jingle composer.

Gatchalian said the jingle promotes creating or recreating Christmas traditions like parol, christmas tree, caroling and noche Buena. “The melody and lyrics of the song they will really feel the value and message of the song which is family, love and hope,” Gatchalian said.

Gatchalian, a noted entrepreneur known for putting up homegrown Davao brands such as Gre clothing line, Blue Gre coffee shops, Saging Repablik banana themed restaurant and one of the leading tourism prime movers in Davao City being the president of the Davao Tourism Association, is also a song composer who has been creating jingles for corporate clients since the 1990s.

Among his noted works include the "Great To Be Here" Gaisano Mall jingle, "Daghang Salamat Po" NCCC's 25th anniversary jingle, "My Coffee, My Blue Gre" of Blue Gre Coffee. His corporate jingles has been interpreted by famous music artists such as Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Gary Valenciano.

To sing the Davao Pasko Fiesta jingle, he enlisted the talent of Dabawenyo singer Huly Ray Asidor who also arranged the jingle. Gatchalian said he finished writing the song in just one sitting.

“It was easy for me to compose the song cause I grew up doing those Christmas traditions,” Gatchalian said.

The song is currently being played in radio stations around Davao City, Gatchalian said they will be launching the music video of the jingle during the Christmas tree lighting at the City Hall on Nov. 19 which will be attended by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Davao Pasko Fiesta is an annual event of the City Government of Davao in partnership with the private sector as a means of celebrating Filipino Christmas tradition during the holiday season.

This year’s Pasko Fiesta carries the theme “ Buong Pamilya, Sama-samang Magsasaya, Puno ng Pag-ibig at Pagasa!”

Gatchalian said the beauty of the song is in the way it encapsulates the Christmas spirit and relives the wonderful experiences and much-cherished memories about Christmas.
