Consulate of Japan holds talks for Industrial Dev’t Project in Mindanao

DAVAO CITY, Nov 22 (PIA) –The Office of the Consulate of Japan in Davao takes on initial talks for industrial development project in Mindanao focusing on the local government’s industrial and innovation policy through the Seeds and Needs Matching webinar in collaboration with the Cagayan de Oro Local Government Unit, Department of Trade and Industry and the University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines held last week. 


Consul-General of Japan in Davao Miwa Yoshiaki aims to integrate the concept and to have a collaborative effort in rebuilding industrial development in Southern and Northern Mindanao.


Consul-General Yoshiaki said, “In order to develop industry, innovation is very important and all countries are looking forward or ways to promote in cooperation with the government, academia and industry in order to meet the seeds and needs.”  


The Kitakyushu Science and Research Park Development Project is a community where advancement of basic industrial technology and science research have been laid out in addressing air and water pollution brought by Industrial Companies which also resulted drastic change in the City of Kitakyushu, Japan, where residents, companies and administration worked together to counter the effects of pollution. 


In his opening remark, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno was optimistic on the project and said, “This is a kind of partnership once establish and strengthen will certainly be a cause to pursue a development agenda. This may be a long journey but I’m sure that this journey is worth taking because we are going to do not just the rebuilding Mindanao but the pre-engineering of our Island."


On the question on what he will going to develop either Northern or Southern part of Mindanao, Mayor Moreno emphasized that he wanted to develop both Southern and Northern Mindanao. 


Mayor Moreno added, “As we develop Southern Mindanao and Northern Mindanao together, the rest of Mindanao will not be far behind.  Our mission is to help develop both Southern and Northern Mindanao together, because as we succeed in our mission, we will also succeed on behalf of Mindanao.”  (PIA XI/Elvira May Suico)

Completed projects turned over to far-flung villages in DavSur

DAVAO CITY, Dec. 24 (PIA) – The provincial government of Davao del Sur has intensified its turnover of completed projects to provide convenience to the intended beneficiaries in the far-flung areas in the province.   Among the recently turned over was the covered space with stage worth P1,186,886.58 for the Sibulan National High School in the remote barangay of Sibulan in the municipality of Sta. Cruz.   An electrification project with 150-watt solar lights was also provided for the benefit of the barangay residents.   Governor Marc Cagas turned over the projects to the school teaching personnel represented by Isabelito F.
