Barangayanihan goes to remote Digos City brgy



DAVAO CITY, Nov. 22 (PIA) – The local government units and national government agencies in Davao del Sur will bring together a convergence of services on Wednesday (Nov. 24, 2021) in one of the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) in the province.

 

About 300 residents including the indigenous community of Barangay Kapatagan in Digos City will be benefitting from the various government programs and services as the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery will kick off in Davao del Sur on said date.

 

The Davao del Sur provincial LGU, Department of the Interior and Local Government of Davao del Sur, Philippine Information Agency Davao del Sur and Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office will take the lead in the caravan which aims not only to deliver government services directly to the communities, but also to highlight the enormous accomplishments of the Duterte administration.

 

Several services will be provided by the provincial and city LGUs as among the benefits that the village residents can avail of during the caravan.

 

One is the COVID-19 vaccination among the pediatric population ages 12-17 years, which will be administered by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

 

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office will be providing Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS), while the Digos City Social Welfare and Development Office will make way for the new application and renewal of identification cards for the senior citizen, persons with disabilities and solo parents, and consultation services for the victims of violence against women and children.

 

The Office of the Provincial Agriculture together with the City Agriculture Office and Department of Agriculture will offer farmers technical consultation and assistance, distribute vegetable seeds, conduct registry system for basic sectors on agriculture and information drive on one Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) insurance and on the One Million Trees campaign.

 

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) will conduct profiling of beneficiaries for its skills training and scholarship program.

 

On the part of the DSPPO, the following services will be provided: National Police Clearance, free haircut, PhilHealth registration, free legal consultation, macro-etching and free lugaw/lomi.


The 39th Infantry Battalion and the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army will be spearheading a free hair cut and photo gallery.

 

From the national government agencies based in Davao del Sur, the Department of Trade and Industry will make available its programs on business name registration, business consultancy and consumer advocacy.

 

The Department of Labor and Employment will have its profiling of displaced workers, on-site registration of workers association, validation and orientation.

 

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will provide training on bangus deboning, while TESDA-accredited Carmelo C. Delos Cientos Sr. National Trade School will conduct learner’s profile and skills demonstration on sayote pickling.


The residents of Kapatagan can also take advantage of the national ID registration of the Philippine Statistics Authority which will also accept requests for issuance of certificates on birth, marriage, death and CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage).


Also during the caravan, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be holding graduation rites for barangay residents who will attend and complete the Theoretical Driving Course on Nov 23, 2021.


The LTO will also be giving information drive/seminar on Road Safety Awareness (AVP) and on student permit, and free consultation concerning motor vehicle registration and driver’s license.


On the part of the Social Security System, it will be offering its mandates on coverage and registration, web registration and annual confirmation of pensioners.


The Davao del Sur Bureau of Fire Protection will also be contributing to the caravan by putting up a photo booth, demonstration on how to use fire extinguisher and distribution of leaflets.


The Digos City Fire Station will have its Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), releasing of fire safety certificates, orientation and information drive on the procedures of securing business permit and fire safety, conduct of fire drill and free disinfection of establishments.


The Department of Agrarian Reform will entertain residents seeking legal advice on tenancy and on Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA).


This collective efforts of the different government agencies in Davao del Sur through the holding of the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan embodies the Whole of Nation Approach which is among the many legacies of President Rodrigo Duterte.

LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products.   The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities.
