DavNor to start vaccination for minors

12 year old Anthony Elorde, a pediatric vaccinee in Davao City

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Oct. 28 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte through its Provincial Health Office has announced that it will start pediatric vaccinations (ages 12-17 years old) starting November 3, 2021, for those who have pre-registered, said Provincial Vaccination Operation Center Head Dr. Eleanor Salva in an interview on Oct. 28.

In the news article released today by the One DavNor Network, the official media publication of the Provincial Information Communication and Knowledge Management Office (PICKMO) of Davao Del Norte, Dr. Salva discussed the requirements for the minors before getting inoculated.

Dr. Salva said that the pediatric vaccination is a nationwide mandate which will start on November 3. In the province, the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) together with the local government units will also start on November 3, but the Provincial Health Office pediatric vaccinations will start on November 4, she added. For those minors with comorbidity, Dr. Salva said that they should secure medical certificates from their pediatricians first before taking the vaccines.

On the vaccination sites, required from the minor and the parents or guardians are documents reflecting the child-parent/guardian relationship. The parents or guardians also need to sign the consent before their children get vaccinated.

Parents and guardians who are not vaccinated yet can also avail of the vaccines as escorts during pediatric vaccinations. As per the mandate of the Department of Health (DOH), Pfizer or Moderna vaccines will be used for minors. (PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda/Ezri M. Coda, Jr. with reports from One DavNor Network)
