Davao City liquor ban now 1 AM to 8 AM

DAVAO CITY Oct. 25 (PIA)- The City Government of Davao has adjusted the liquor ban to 1:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. instead of the 24-hour ban on alcoholic drinks.

Executive Order 59 Series of 2021 however states that consumption of alcohol shall only be on private properties.

Under of SECTION 2 of EO 59 the following are not allowed:

* The serving of liquor for consumption in bars, restaurants, sari-sari stores, palengke (wet market), videoke, and other business establishments;

* Drinking liquor in all public places including but not limited to streets, alleys, pathways, and outside of gates.

The order shall take effect on October 26 to January 15, 2022.

The new guidelines repeals  EO 32 which extended the 24-hour liquor ban in the City from August 3, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

It was in April in last year when Mayor Sara Duterte signed EO 23-A series 2020 which provided guidelines for Davao City under an Enhanced Community Quarantine. Among the guidelines was the implementation of a 24-hour liquor ban.

EO 59 also lifted the 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. curfew time in public places around the city.

The loosening of restrictions cited the decreasing cases of COVID-19 in the city and the active vaccination roll-out which has fully vaccinated 62.19% of the city’s population as of Oct. 25 (PIA/RG Alama)
