The Davao City Government called for interested sectors to help in the roll out of the national vaccination program. As the Davao City LGU is in the process of completing the vaccination for the A1, A2, and A3 Priority Groups, it has also allowed sectors to establish additional vaccination sites specific to cater their respective sector.
The Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies XI (ARENA XI), being the organization of the different heads of offices, orchestrated the establishment of two vaccination sites including the gathering and training of vaccination team who are volunteers from the different member agencies of the ARENA XI.
“We also thank the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) and the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao for serving as host site in the vaccination. These two site are now simultaneously running for the first day of vaccination,” said Mayan Inni of the Department of Science and Technology XI and one of the organizers.
Target number of government employees in Davao City is about 15,000. So far, about 10,000 employees from 80 government agencies have enrolled in the online registration platform set up by the CHO.
The ARENA XI through its President Dr. Anthony Sales requested the different member agencies of the ARENA to pool in their contribution to realize the staging of the vaccination for the government sector.
Dr. Aldrich So of the City Health Office emphasized that the city LGU thought of such strategy to speed up the vaccination and immediately start the A4 Priority Group.
“ The vaccinees have received Sinovac vaccine based on the DOH guidelines. We cannot provide Pfizer to the A4 Group since it is from the COVAX Facility and it’s intended to be given to the A1, A2, A3, and A5 Priority Groups,” he said.
To avoid crowding and a possible breach of the minimum health protocols, the organizer ensured that no walk-in clients will be entertained. All vaccinees will be informed of their schedule ahead as each site can only cater to 200 individuals per day. (PIA/Frances Mae Macapagat)
