DTI-DavOcc’s entrep seminars benefit 1,500 clients



MALITA, Davao Occidental - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here has already assisted a total of 1,500 clients through its entrepreneurial seminars and skills training interventions.
 
As of May this year, the office reported that its 50 seminars and training have already helped numerous existing entrepreneurs who experienced the downside of Covid-19.

The health pandemic caused disruptions in the operation of many businesses which has resulted in a decreased income. There were even some that filed for bankruptcy and closer their businesses completely.
 
DTI-Davao Occidental Program Office manager Ma. Joycelyn F. Banlasan shared that through the Negosyo Center in the area, the affected micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are being provided with the necessary interventions.
 
“To continuously help the MSMEs in the province recover from the effects of the pandemic, the Negosyo Centers, which our office here runs, has been giving a series of entrepreneurial seminars, skills training, and starter kits as start-up capital,” the trade official said.
 
Among these seminars are on Developing Entrepreneurial Mindset, Business Planning, Financial Literacy, Organizational Strengthening, Skills Training on Fish Processing, Coconut Processing, Homemade Delicacy Processing, Homemade Laundry Processing and Homemade Condiments Processing.
 
The province of Davao Occidental has four Negosyo Centers that existing and would-be entrepreneurs can reach or visit forassistance. These are located in the municipalities of Sta. Maria, Malita, Don Marcelino and Jose Abad Santos.
 
”With the challenges brought by the pandemic, the DTI office in Davao Occidental continues to assist for the affected MSMEs’ torecover. We are here to back them up until this pandemic ends. What we only ask from them is their cooperation and commitment to work with us to revive our economy,” she said.
 
Apart from the seminars and training programs, clients may also access other DTI programs through the Negosyo Centers. These include the business registration assistance, including thebusiness name registration facilitation, Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) registration, business consultancy services according to their needs, ranging from product developmen and trade promotion to financing facilitation.(DTI11)

LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products.   The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities.
